Overview | Describe your role in a tweet.
I am a primary care clinician – my first priority is always making sure our patients are getting the best care.
History | When did you join the Eden Health team?
April 2017
Past work life | Where were you before?
I’ve worked in a few different subspecialties in the past including ear, nose, and throat; women’s health; and non-surgical weight management. So far, primary care is my favorite because it requires you to know a lot about every field of medicine.
Purpose | Why did you join Eden?
I have a family member who has been sick my entire life so have observed firsthand how difficult it can be to get good care. I wanted to be the medical provider that people look forward to seeing. At Eden Health, I am enabled to be that person. My patients are always my first priority and I am readily available whenever they reach out.
Work highlights | What do you love most about your job?
So many things! I love how much time I am given to take care of patients that require additional time and communication in order to meet their treatment goals. I also love that my job requires me to be a jack of all trades – I regularly work on clinical quality, reducing cost, patient education, and clinical outcomes. I’ve enjoyed seeing Eden Health grow so quickly and I like figuring out how we maintain the personalized Eden Health touch that our patients value so much as we scale.
Relationships | How do you cultivate a relationship with your patients?
Just like any other relationship, I believe that a patient-provider relationship is best cultivated with effective communication, collaboration and trust. And every relationship is different, which means every relationship must be personalized. When working with a patient, I try to understand where they are coming from because people have different limitations, whether those are related to finances, time, or other factors. Good care requires buy-in from the patient so they feel a sense of ownership. Collaborating closely with patients is what I have found best helps them achieve the outcomes that they, and I desire.
Hometown | Where are you from?
I grew up in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. I also spent a few years in Sweden where I became more interested in different forms of healthcare delivery.
Fun stuff | What do you like to do in your free time?
I love outdoor activities, including biking, skiing, and hiking. I love cooking, even though I’m not the best at it. I enjoy incorporating different ingredients and creating something delicious that people can get together and share.
Parting words | What’s a quote you live by?
“Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. And above all, it takes a willingness to try.”
– Atul Gawande
